DRAW FROM THE LIVING WATER WITHIN

Updated: Feb 16, 2023

In a world where we are in the era of the selfie, the season of the viral video, an ion of time where my media is key, my platform is power, and my voice is most important. “Me” has replaced “We.” Yes, your voice matters – that you articulate the ideas and imagination within you. Your story influences and shapes the world we live in and sets a foundation for generations to come.

However, when we become the central figure and foundation, then Christ is no longer exalted; thus, humanity is elevated above the God who created them.

Observing the dysfunction in the earth, we must shift to looking within to what Holy Spirit has deposited within us so that there is a return on the investment or promise from Christ. Jesus declared, "He who believes in Me, as the Scriptures has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." John 7:38, The heart in this text relates to our "innermost being." The core of who we are will release a reservoir of the life of Christ. This is the essence of being born again and filled with Holy Spirit. The "he who believes in Me" is an open invitation which describes in other textual iterations as "if anyone is thirsty."

There is an inherent thirst in all creation for its Creator who will quench and fill that human pursuit. Like a felt-need, that thirst is the more we long for God and the desire for deeper revelation of God's character and nature. In the text, thirst derives from a term for an insatiable craving, like a dryness in the mouth and throat caused by a lack of liquid which causes a desire to drink.

What are you thirsting for? Who? Why? How do you pursue it and what do you consider your source?

The psalmist transparently shares "as the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for Thee, O God." My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God?" Psalm 42:1-2. Even Isaiah the prophet foresaw that reality wherein, "surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. With joy yo will draw water from the wells of salvation." Isaiah 12:2-3

· We are designed to draw from the Living Water.

· We are designed to develop from the Water of the Word

· We are designed to dispense that Word into the world.

Christ, the Living Water is a PURE, POWER, POTENT and PRODUCTIVE source.

A PURE SOURCE is not mixed with any other substance or material, without any extraneous or unnecessary elements. "Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him." (Proverbs 30:5)

A POWER SOURCE contains the capacity for being acted upon or producing an effect, a source of means of supplying energy. "My words will not pass away." (Matthew 24:35)

A POTENT SOURCE encompasses the capability to achieve or bring about a particular result. “My word… shall not return to me empty, but it… shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11)

A PRODUCTIVE SOURCE yields and reveals the quality to bring about creation. “The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.” Hebrew 1:3.

There is an invitation to you. Open it in your life as it reads, "and the Spirit and the bride say, Come! And let him who hears say Come! And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely." (Revelation 22:17). It is paid for by Christ and freely given to humanity to consume. Christ promises, "But whoever drinks of the water that I give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water, springing up into everlasting life." (John 4:14).

Now is time for an ever-increasing flow of the life of heaven into our world. When this happens, we will enter, see, and understand the kingdom of God; the rivers will flow and will not be contained.
